THERE WHEN YOU NEED US
HOW CAN AN OVERNIGHT CARER HELP?
Overnight carers can support you in many different ways and in many situations including:
After an operation
We can help you look after wounds, with catheter care, take medication and with mobility.
With mobility
If you are frequently up and about in the night we can be there to help keep you safe and prevent injury from falls.
Complex care needs
Our carers can help keep an eye on your medical conditions overnight and provide continence care, tracheostomy care, PEG feeding care and more.
Dementia
We can support clients with dementia during the night if they need support or reassurance.
Companionship
Even if you don’t have any persistent physical needs, it can be comforting to know you are not alone in the house and that there is a carer there if you need them.
WILL MY CARER BE AWAKE THE WHOLE TIME?
This will depend on the type of care you need and we’ll discuss this with you during your initial assessment. There are usually 3 options for overnight care:
Waking night care
This is where your carer will stay away to monitor your needs. This is usually the best option if you have medical needs that need to be monitored.
Sleeping night care
This is where your carer will be in your home but will go to sleep. They can be woken up when requested if you need any support. This type of overnight care is usually best if you don't always need personal or physical care, but would like a carer at home for reassurance.
Respite overnight care
If you have a live-in carer that requires a break overnight, we’ll arrange for a respite carer to be there.
